Hi,

Many thanks for your quick response to my enquiry about William Sharp, =
and although you think the information might be scant there is a date =
there which is absolutely fundamental to my story, and I am very pleased =
to have it - that being William being admitted to the Nine Trades in =
1785. I am going to speculate that he had come to Dundee from Collace, =
established himself in trade, then married Isabel Kinnear and started =
their family. Your comments about his being a well respected gent are =
also marvellous, as we have a sense that the Sharps were very highly =
regarded in the city and in business, and to see that emerging as a =
family trait, as it were, as early as this is wonderful.

I=E2=80=99m not sure if the 1901 Newport Thomas is relevant, but there =
may have been several branches of the family by then, and as it happens =
William=E2=80=99s father=E2=80=99s name was Thomas, so who knows if they =
are connected?

The others listed, John (the second), John (the third), Robert, William, =
Frederick, Ronald and Hugh are all well kent to me and will form the =
large part of my story as I progress - interesting that they pop up in =
the Guildry as well, but why wouldn=E2=80=99t they?

Many thanks again, and I may well be back in touch, and contact Ian =
Flett as well.

Kind regards,

Paul=
