Dear Innes, The information you sent re- the medal is extremely =
interesting and I think that the inscription inside the other medal =
names the same man. I wonder if he had any connection to the offices =
used by E and R Simpson in the past? Pamela.

  Dear Mr. Duffus,

Thank you for your e-mail and for sending the picture of the medal. =
This shows the shield of Arms, crest and Motto recorded in 1881 in name =
of Robert Crawfurd Walker, Solicitor in Dundee. He was the eldest son of =
Crawfurd Walker, Merchant in Dundee and Isabella, daughter of George =
Thoms, Merchant in Dundee and one of the Magistrates of that Burgh. =
Crawfurd Walker was son of the Reverend Robert Walker, Minister of the =
Gospel at Cupar, Fife, and Jane Young. Robert Walker was the son of =
William Walker residing in Carnwarth, Lanark and his wife Helen =
Crawford.

I do hope this is of help to you.

  Yours sincerely,

  Sir/Madam

As Archivist of the Nine Incorporated Trades of Dundee the medal below =
has come into my possession. It was presented to a Clerk and Boxmaster =
to the Trades and I suspect the date to have been pre-1890.

I am trying to trace its age, the person to whom it was presented and =
the details of the crest. My assumption is that the gentleman in =
question was a Notary Public. The Motto is "Sapere Aude", (dare to =
serve).

Can you help me please, or at least point me in the right direction.

  Innes
